June 2020 Newsletter
Hey everyone, we've had a busy few weeks since reopening! It's great to see everyone again and I'm loving hearing how excited patients are to be at the Dentist! One of my passions is to make coming to Inspire Dental Wellness a pleasant experience all the time and a big part of that is my rigorous pursuit of continuing education (even during the shelter in place!) as well as bringing the latest advancements in Dentistry into the office. During the time we were sheltering in place, I acquired more than 48 hours of Continuing Education. The State of Illinois requires 48 hours of CE every 3 years for licensure renewal! So I was very much working to stay on top of my game and wasn't only watching Netflix and knitting! :)
As luck would have it, prior to closing in Mid-March I invested in several pieces of dental equipment and we received them right as we were closing for only emergencies! But now that we're up and running and fully trained on everything, I'm going to introduce a different piece of technology over the next few newsletters. All of it is to make your experience as comfortable as possible and diagnose accurately. Also, it's pretty cool to say I have two lasers in the office!
In this newsletter, I'm going to talk about our new Digital Impression Scanner. If you've ever had a crown or have had braces as a kid, you've had the goopy impression material in your mouth to get an impression of your teeth. This is a finicky process and trust me, we've all been there and know it's uncomfortable, especially if you have a strong gag reflex. Depending on the material of choice, my assistant Becky has to mix up by hand or place one material in the tray while I used another material in your mouth. Then its the fun 1-5 minute waiting game to see how it turned out. And if its not perfect, we have to repeat the process! Yuck! Well, not any more! Now we have a digital scanner that can take an "impression" in half the time and all without any of the goopy material! Instead it is taking millions of detailed photos to digitally recreate your teeth! Once digitally scanned, our lab receives it the same day. I can go on about how much this improves patient experience and the overall outcome of the procedures, but I want to talk to you about it next time you're in the office, so be sure to bring it up when you're in!
